About us

who we are

AKOMA Hearts of Ghana is a young community based developmental NGO that strives to provide the welfare and development of people especially children in deprived communities.

The organization has been working for years and officially registered in 2014. The founder, Mr Robert, is a Ghanaian who is passionate about helping people in such communities and is always looking for new ways to achieve this.

We seek to develop a model of a sustainable village where people can find a better life in their own communities and make a decent living for their families, where they can live in a clean enviroment with access to healthcare and a good education for their children, work together to support each other economically and make use of renewable energies. At the moment, our main focus is on the community of Azizakpe, a small island in the Volta rivers mouth.

The NGO offers wonderful opportunities for volunteers to not just visit Ghana, but contribute their knowledge, skills and passion to our underdeveloped village communities.

Through the action of volunteers like you and with the support of our local team and members of the community, we join hands to work on projects that will directly benefit the people.

Since 2017, we have a permanent partnership with the German organization VIA e.V.. Every summer, two young volunteers from Germany join our team for one year. They support in the school of Azizakpe, organize the After School Programme for the children as well as they help realizing other projects.
